Ventana 244: is pleased to present is proud welcome back Brooklyn based abstract artist Melissa Staiger for her curatorial project Triangles, , featuring seventeen different approaches to the triangular shape by seventeen different artists. This survey carries forward a conversation of this geometric symbol where artists such as Sonia Delaunay, Wassily Kandinsky and Blinky Palermo left off.

The works on view incorporate this shape through various painted and drawn layers, through the lens, through being shown and performed. Kandinsky once stated: "Who knows, maybe all our 'abstract' forms are 'forms in nature'." As science and consciousness are expanding, the triangular shape presents itself as a symbol full of meanings. It serves as a building block of life in the tiniest particles of our universe, and for thousands of years many cultures have used it as a powerful symbol. Triangles provides a contemporary interpretation and integration of the form.

Featured artists: Peter Acheson, Liz Ainslie, Vincent Como, Jon Cowan, Glen Cunningham, Mark Dagley, DeShawn Dumas, Elizabeth Hazan, Maria Hupfield, Osamu Kobayashi, Janet Kurnatowski, Ben LaRocco, Rossana Martinez, Brooke Moyse, Jason Rohlf, Li Trincere and Julie Weitz.

A catalogue with the artists work and additional essays by Nadema Agard, Craig Olson and Stephen Westfall will be available on in a printed and electronic version (special introductory pricing during the exhibition).
